The Weld School started in the month of May 2024 by lighting the lamp by First lady AWS Welding Engineer. The Weld School, founded by Faith Quality Services and Proficient NDT with aim to help “Made In India” movement by upgrading skill, knowledge in welding and welding inspection.
VT L-II course is designed for enhancing welding Inspection skills and improve the quality control with concept ‘Do it Right First Time and Every Time.’
THEORY of Visual Inspection
What you learn:
Basics of Visual Testing - Definition, Types - Direct, Remote, Translucent, Mirror VT
The Human Eye - Eye structure, Vision defects, Eye chart, Color vision test.
Light & Illumination -Types of light: Visible, UV, White light. Lux meter, Light intensity requirements as per ASME
Optical & Mechanical Aids- Magnifying glass, Borescope, Fiberscope, Videoscope, Telescopes, Mirrors
Welding Process -SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW. How each process creates defect
Welding Discontinuities -Porosity, Slag, Crack, Undercut, Lack of fusion, Burn through, Overlap
Service-Induced Discontinuities- Fatigue crack, Corrosion, Erosion, Creep
Codes & Standards - ASME Sec V Art 9, AWS B 1.11. Acceptance criteria.
Reporting - How to write VT inspection report, Documentation
PRACTICAL + EQUIPMENT
Equipment handling - Lux meter, Weld gauge, Pit gauge, Borescope, Camera
Calibration - How to verify light intensity, magnifiers
Sample inspection - Weld coupons, Plate samples with real defects
Defect sizing - Using weld gauges to measure undercut, reinforcement
Remote VT
EXAM PREPEPARATION
3 exams to pass:
General Exam
40 Q - Theory of all NDT methods
Specific Exam
20 Q - VT codes, procedures, product forms
Practical Exam
2-3 specimens. Find + report defects. Min 70% in general
